Hogwarts Legacy

I am a Harry Potter hater. I read the books as a kid but the further my balls dropped the less I cared about the franchise.  I am also suffering from open world fatigue.  So you may be asking why I played this game?  I was bored and it was a game.  I can assure you that Hogwarts Legacy is certainly a game.  This feels like a good ending but I’ll continue so it actually becomes a review.  The game is a set long before the entitled brat Harry Potter is born.  You are a new student to Hogwarts assigned to complete open world bullshit as fast as you can.  The combat is probably the best part of the game, with an almost Arkham Asylum style combat system only instead of fisticuffs, you are using spells.  The combat is fast, flashy, and fun.  Hogwarts Castle is well designed and it is fun to run around and find secrets; however, for some reason the developers chose to place most quests outside of the castle so it comes close to being an optional area entirely.  You will be mainly exploring the wildlands outside of the castle which isn’t that exciting.  For an open world game, it is pretty short.  I was able to complete the main and side quests in about 30 hours.  For some reason, the developers decided to introduce major game mechanics very late into the game.  You won’t be able to upgrade your gear until the 10 hour mark or raise animals until the 15 hour mark.  The spreading out of what should be core mechanics of the game is a baffling design decision that I do not understand.  The story is shit, I don’t really have much more to say about it.  It is that bland and uninteresting.  For fans of the franchise, this game might allow you to live out your dreams of being a student at Hogwarts however, for a non fan, this was just another checklist driven, forgettable, and bland open world game.  Also, why the fuck did they not include Quddtich in this game?
