Star Wars: Jedi Survivor

Jedi Survivor is yet another sequel that takes the approach of bigger equals better.  This is a rare case of this approach working. For the most part.  The planets are large semi open worlds with tons of secrets and hidden bosses throughout.  There are side missions that are mostly worth doing.  The combat is still simple but fun and adds a stance system where you can switch between dual lightsabers, a staff, and a regular old lightsaber.  Where the game stumbles is it’s insane amount of platforming.  You will be platforming more than you will be fighting which is a baffling design decision.  The platforming can be fun but I didn’t come to this game wanting to play Mario. I wanted a Jedi combat game.  Another massive flaw is the performance.  I played this game almost a year after it launched and it still had issues.  I played on an Xbox Series S and I lost count of the times this game crashed.  It seems like EA have completely abandoned attempting to fix this game.  This is on brand for EA but it is still unacceptable.  The story didn’t grab me as much as the first game did and some character motivations didn’t make much sense to me.  Cal Kestis in my opinion isn’t much of a compelling character, as he is kind of a bland do gooder type.  If you enjoyed the first entry, you will probably enjoy this one, just know that this sequel adds things that didn’t need to be there at all.  Hopefully the force is with you and this game actually functions as it was meant to.
