I am not British however, I am a big fan of British deadpan humor. This is a comedic slapformer where you walk around a quaint British town slapping anything and everything. You are essentially helping citizens with their problems while you are waiting for a job interview. You will walk through the town and the game forces you to backtrack. This isn’t a criticism as returning to other parts of the map progresses the story and the characters continue to go through their day. The art style on display here is wonderful and unique. The humor is silly, I had a smile on my face for the entire 2 to 3 hour playthrough. Video games, at least historically are not great at conveying and executing comedy however, the script here had me laughing out loud multiple times. The humor here won’t be for everyone. It has a child-like silliness to it that at times can be juvenile but for the most part, it works. The writers here know how to extend and repeat a joke where the punchline gets stronger and funnier the more you progress through the game. This is a game you can easily finish in one sitting and it is definitely worth it if you are looking for a game that is upbeat, innocent, and most importantly funny. I do hope the success of this game leads to more developers making games focused solely on making players laugh.
