Mirror’s Edge

Mirror’s Edge holds up today as a solid first-person parkour game.  While the brevity of the experience makes it feel like a glorified tech demo, there are innovative ideas here that went on to influence many games like the Dying Light franchise.  You play as Faith, she is a runner that is delivering packages in a dystopian, fascist society.  She is also trying to find her sister blah blah blah and is framed for a murder or maybe her sister is? I don’t know, Who cares? The story here does not matter or at least I didn’t care for it.  I’m here for first person parkour and that is what this game does well.  In later levels, when you are inside, the controls become a bit wonky and imprecise which can lead to frustration.  As I said at the beginning, this is a short game that you can probably knock out in a weekend.  If you missed this game when it launched like I did, this is a classic curiosity worth playing.
