Mafia: Definitive Edition is a from the ground up remake and it looks incredible. The gameplay is a bit dated and simplistic but the story and characters is what makes this game worth a playthrough. The gunplay in Mafia has always been pretty weak and it still is in the remake. The game does have an open world but it really only serves as a way to travel between missions. There are hidden cars and other collectibles that you can find but there are no side missions or events in this open world. While this is more of a pseudo open world, it still looks great. The game does give you the option to skip the open world aspect of the game and just go mission to mission but I chose to opt out of this option since I enjoyed driving through the world and listening to the conversations of my companions. If you have seen a mob movie before, you have seen a story like this however, for a video game, the story is well done. Even if you have already played this game, this remake is worth playing, the presentation and graphics are mind blowing and a huge step up from the original. This remake was an offer I could not refuse nor should you.
