Immortals of Aveum

Immortals of Aveum is a first person shooter only instead of guns you are using spells.  The spells feel like guns more than actual spells. For example, green magic is your machine gun and red magic is your shotgun.  It isn’t very creative and I can’t help but feel like they missed an opportunity to truly make you feel like a spell caster rather than a gun wielder.  The graphics are blurry and the art design is bland and not exciting.  There are some cool set pieces here and there and it is nice to have a contained single player FPS campaign however, the moment after I beat it, I almost entirely forgot it.  It felt like I was binge drinking for 20 hours (I wasn’t) and have no memory of what I experienced.  The story is aggressively bland and uninteresting with cringe worthy dialogue that reminds me of a bad MCU movie.  The game throws a lot of proper nouns at you and it is just nonsense drivel fantasy bullshit.  If a person put a gun to my head and told me to recite the story of this game, I wouldn’t be writing this review.  Honestly, watching these cutscenes made me want to die at times.  There is a crafting and loot system here that could have been completely removed and the game would be better for it.  If you are starved for a single player FPS campaign this might sate you however, there are way too many better games to play over this.
