Dying Light 2 is a disappointing example that more does not always equal better. The game focuses far too much on story. This would be okay if the narrative was compelling but it is far from that. The writing is bad and the characters, including the new protagonist are not interesting at all. The cutscenes are long and frequent. I suggest skipping these since if you watch them all, it will directly negatively impact your play experience. The parkour is improved here but not by much. In the games marketing they claimed that choice would make an impact on your gameplay and the world around you. This was greatly exaggerated since you are given a binary choice between siding with two factions, one generates different types of ways to navigate the world such as jump pads, the other generates traps to help make fighting zombies easier. Night time is a disappointment as it feels neutered compared to the first game and is far less intense than the first entry. The combat is entirely melee driven which is cool and makes sense in the world since this story takes place at least a decade after the first game. I did return to this game when they added guns and I wish they did not since the absence of guns was the only narratively interesting part of the game. Dying Light 2 is an inferior sequel to the first game and I cannot recommend it, even to the most die hard fans of the first entry.
