Contra: Operation Galuga

This new entry is a solid if unremarkable entry in the long running franchise.  The art style is a bit of an odd mix of 3d and 2d assets that is a bit off putting; however, the gameplay here is almost identical to the older games in the series.  The game is still challenging however, it adds modern quality of life features such as checkpoints.  You can play the game like the old ones without checkpoints if you want so hardcore fans can still test their skills and see if they can beat the game in one run.  This is a fun couch co-op game however, it is incredibly short.  I realize these games are historically short given they are arcade games at their core however, as a 40 dollar game this is simply not enough content.  The developers could have added more modes and levels and potentially some sort of progression system to encourage repeat runs but they didn’t.  I only can recommend this game for the most hardcore of Contra fans.  For everyone, else this is a skip.
