Full disclosure: I am not a fan of the Avatar films, one could say that I am an Avatar hater, however, I love video games and got this one on sale so I figured why not? What I found was a bland and boring take on the film franchise. Is the world beautiful? Absolutely, however, the gameplay here is typical Ubisoft slop. The combat lacks punch and is simply not very fun. The exploration is underwhelming and sometimes frustrating due to the sheer amount of colors on display. It can be difficult to navigate the world and find resources since everything is so colorful, that everything blends together. There is a strong focus on resource gathering in this game and there are some main quests that simply require you to find different fruits or plants. The side quests are equally as boring as the main quests and mostly revolve around fetch quests/resource gathering. The narrative on display here makes the films seem like Shakespeare. The characters are uninteresting and the story itself is aggressively boring with a one dimensional villain. If you are a fan of the films there may be some value in just existing in this world but even for fans, I would hesitate to recommend this game since there is really nothing here story or gameplay wise that worth parting with your cash to experience.
