Ubisoft marketed this game as a return to the old formula. This got me excited as I have not been into the massive action RPGs entries in the series. This marketing was a false advertisement since this is not a return to the old formula at all. The gameplay is ripped straight out of Valhalla, the only difference is that you are weaker so you have to rely more on stealth. If you are looking to a return to the involved, multi layered assassination missions where you get to know your target, you will be disappointed. These targets are faceless, not interesting, and meaningless. Since Ubisoft said Mirage was initially intended to be a DLC for Valhalla, it shouldn’t be that surprising that the gameplay in this game is nearly identical; however, the marketing really wanted us to believe this was a genuine return to the old days. I guess people like me who prefer the older formula are going to keep having to wait for a true return to the old days because this game ain’t it. I forgot to mention how the story is but that’s because it’s bad. End of review. Sorry.
